Books, reading and writing them, are at the very heart of what we do at Chapters, and we are really pleased to have some exciting author events coming up. But we are also about building community and we love how Chapters has become a place to meet and engage in the village. Our next community event is our Chapters Quiz Night and we hope to make these a part of our regular programme. All the information on upcoming events can be found below.

Australian author to visit Chapters
October 4th 3.30 for a 4.00pm start
Kate Forsyth is an award winning Australian author, known for her historical novel Bitter Greens, which interweaves a retelling of the Rapunzel fairy tale with the true life story of the woman who first told the tale, the 17th century French writer Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de La Force. Kate is also well known for her expertise on fairytales and has authored two sets of Oracle cards published by Rockpool publishing. Kate has authored over 40 books with her most recent being The Changeling, a historical fantasy novel inspired by the true story of Scotland's first witch-hunt.

Sebastian Barry is one of our favourites writers. Maurice has read every novel he has written, including this his latest, the third in a trilogy starting with the fantastic Days Without End. !!New Writer’s Book Club New!!
Author event with Jan Carson Friday 27th November 7.30pm
This is our first ever Writers Book Club, where the audience are all writers (or potential writers:) seeking insight into the writing and publishing process. We’re delighted to welcome award winning author Jan Carson as our first guest author. The event will be hosted by Sturry based author and creative writing tutor Sarah Ivens.
Jan Carson is a Belfast based writer who has published four novels, three short story collections and three micro-fiction collections. Her novel The Fire Starters won the EU Prize for Literature for Ireland, 2019. The Raptures was shortlisted for the An Post Irish Novel of the Year and Kerry Group Novel of the Year.
Jan was the Seamus Heaney Centre Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast in 2025, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and has achieved the rank of Chevalier in the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France. Her most recent novel, Few and Far Between (Doubleday UK and Scribner US) and micro-fiction collection, No Vacancy (No Alibis Press), were both published in 2026.
